pay attention in parking lots

daily

Parking lots are dangerous places.

It’s because no one thinks they are. You’re basically done driving, right? You’re going slowly. They can’t be more dangerous than the highway.

But they are. You’re looking for a parking spot. Your mind is already in the store. You’re probably driving faster than you think you are. People get hit by distracted drivers in parking lots all the time.

Danger loves distraction and complacency.

It’s the same thing in medical software development. We all pay attention when we’re working on the core calculations or device controls, but do we pay the same attention to the UI? Do we ask ourselves if this button or that form field could represent a risk?

Pay attention, even when you’re in the parking lot.
